    Chapter 19

Perhaps this face was too deceptive, or maybe it was Yun Jingqiu’s voice that was too pleasant to the ear, enchanting Liu He.

Almost as if under a spell, he followed Yun Jingqiu into the master bedroom.

Yun Jingqiu pulled the curtains shut, and the room instantly sank into darkness.

In order to improve his sleep quality and privacy, Yun Jingqiu had replaced the landlord’s original curtains with blackout ones.

Once they were drawn, not a trace of light could be seen in the room.

Liu He took a moment to adjust, then through the faint blur of light, he saw Yun Jingqiu’s figure moving about in the room.

He turned his gaze toward Yun Jingqiu.

    Yun Jingqiu walked toward him.

    “Yun-ge
” Liu He was a little nervous, his Adam’s apple bobbing.

Yun Jingqiu came closer, and in this faintly lit darkness, his face carried a unique allure.

What exactly was he supposed to help with?

Was it what he thought it was?

Liu He’s mind was a jumble.

“I’ll help Xiao He first.” Yun Jingqiu’s voice was close, the sound of it intoxicating.

Liu He was lost in that beautiful voice.

    He nervously nodded.

The next moment, his pants were tugged down by Yun Jingqiu, along with his white cotton underwear.

“White ones.” Yun Jingqiu’s laughter rang out.

The room was somewhat warm—perhaps it was just his body overheating—but Liu He felt his face burning hot.

He couldn’t help retorting, “The lights aren’t even on, how did you see that?”

“I have good night vision.” Yun Jingqiu stared unblinkingly, crouching down, his head right at Liu He’s waist.

“You—” Liu He only got one word out before a muffled groan escaped him, his hands clutching tightly at Yun Jingqiu’s head.

The atmosphere in the room grew far too ambiguous, sticky sounds filling his ears.

Liu He was caught in this sweetness, his mind floating, but then he suddenly regained clarity. He quickly pushed Yun Jingqiu’s head away, stepping back several paces, his voice barely above a whisper: “How can you do something like this?”

Using his hand was still understandable, but using his mouth

    That was too much!

“So that’s what it tastes like.” Yun Jingqiu didn’t answer Liu He’s question. Instead, he grabbed some tissues, wiped his mouth, and spat out what he had taken in.

“Do I also have to help you like this?” Liu He asked.

He had assumed it was only with hands, but if, according to Yun-ge’s idea of reciprocity, he had to use his mouth too?

“Xiao He, just your hands are fine.” Yun Jingqiu smiled, knowing Liu He was too shy to do something like that just yet.

“Like this.” He caught Liu He’s hand, pressing it together with his own.

Back when he’d watched him play games on the keyboard, Liu He had thought this man’s hands were large. Now, holding his own hand so intimately, the sensation was overwhelming.

His fingertips felt hot. Instinctively, he wanted to pull his hand away, but Yun Jingqiu held on tightly, not letting go.

In a brightly lit room, Liu He was fully dressed, glaring at Yun Jingqiu, clearly angry: “I’ll stay at the school dorms for two days. You reflect on yourself.”

“Don’t be like that.” Yun Jingqiu quickly tried to keep him, “Wasn’t it just asking you to help a few more times? Xiao He, you’re too cruel.”

    A few more times?

His hand was sore to the point of numbness, and he was still calling it just “a few more”?

Liu He refused to believe Yun Jingqiu’s nonsense ever again.

Not bothering to respond, he went to pack two sets of clothes and walked straight out.

Yun Jingqiu tried to follow, leaving apartment 1801 with him, but when they reached the elevator he suddenly realized something. He touched his own face and looked at Xiao He with grievance: “Only two days, right? I’ll be waiting at home for you to come back.”

Liu He, still upset, just wanted some time apart to cool down.

    He nodded.

His stipend was about to be deposited soon; by then he could repay Yun-ge and also pick out a birthday gift for him.

Thinking this, Liu He returned to his dormitory.

During the time he’d been living with Yun Jingqiu, he had still come back to the dorm a few times.

Sometimes, with free time at noon, he would nap there, or handle small matters.

Just like a house needs people to keep its energy alive, a dorm room did too.

After tidying up the dorm, Liu He sat at his desk.

The matter of Yun Jingqiu being sabotaged had already been investigated thoroughly.

Yun Jingqiu even reposted the official police statement on Weibo.

【C City Police: Recently, regarding the incident of Yun being sabotaged and injured, our department has detained the suspect Ye and secured key evidence.

Ye has confessed to his crimes. Out of jealousy toward Yun being cast as the lead in the Crossing the River production, Ye bribed prop master Lu and actor Jiang to tamper with the props. He then further hired paid commenters to spread false rumors online, attempting to use public opinion to pressure his way into the lead role.

    Currently, Ye has been detained.】

It hadn’t just been one person—the prop master and the actor who fought against Yun-ge had also been bribed.

No wonder that when the actor felt the prop’s weight was off, he still swung it so hard.

Clearly, none of them were good people.

Liu He sighed, then continued playing games with Yun Jingqiu over video.

He brought his old laptop back to the dorm. But after experiencing a high-end computer, his old one felt unbearable—lagging frames, screen tearing, and even bugging into the map.

After struggling through two games, he gave up, rejecting Yun Jingqiu’s request for another round, and they just chatted instead.

“Xiao He, time for dinner. I’ll have Xiao Song deliver it to you.” Yun Jingqiu suddenly said.

Liu He glanced at the time—it was 5:30 in the afternoon, around their usual mealtime.

    But still

“Brother Song isn’t a food delivery guy. I’ll just eat in the cafeteria.” Liu He laughed.

“Xiao Song already left.” Yun Jingqiu replied.

He left Liu He no room to refuse.

    Liu He sighed helplessly: “Alright.”

Soon, Song Zhiyuan arrived downstairs at the dorm with Liu He’s dinner.

Meeting him outside, Liu He felt embarrassed: “Sorry for the trouble, Brother Song. Next time you can just hire a runner to bring it.”

Song Zhiyuan didn’t mind: “It’s fine. Yun-ge pays me well, I can handle this kind of small thing.”

So just how much was Yun-ge paying him?

Liu He didn’t ask, but figured it wasn’t a small number.

After handing over the food, Song Zhiyuan teased: “Sister-in-law, did you and Yun-ge fight?”

“Not exactly, I just needed a couple of days to cool off.” Liu He muttered vaguely.

Seeing that he didn’t want to talk much, Song Zhiyuan didn’t pry. He just nodded, said goodbye, and left.

Relieved, Liu He brought the food back to the dorm.

After eating, cleaning up the lunchbox, and yawning from fatigue, he fell asleep before it was even dark outside.

Liu He stayed in the dorm for two days. On April 15th, his stipend arrived right on time.

He began browsing for gifts for Yun Jingqiu.

Yun-ge wasn’t short on money, and he couldn’t afford something expensive anyway. He wanted to give something meaningful instead—like a handmade item.

Lately, he had been scrolling through gift ideas. When he opened a short-video app, the first thing that popped up was a tutorial for making a DIY bag for your girlfriend.

That wasn’t useful for Yun-ge. Next.

The next one was a hand-knitted scarf.

But the weather was warming into summer; a scarf wouldn’t be useful. Next.

He scrolled through one after another, trying to pick something suitable for Yun-ge.

    Then his phone chimed.

    【Jiang Yi: Big trouble!】

【Jiang Yi: Lao Xu found out about me being scammed, he’s on his way here now!】

    【Jiang Yi: We’re almost at the dorm!】

    【Jiang Yi: He took my—】

The last message cut off mid-sentence, only a few words sent, with nothing more.

    【fon: ?】

    What was going on?

Xu had found out Jiang Yi was scammed?

    Then Jiang Yi was doomed.

Liu He couldn’t help but laugh in schadenfreude.

Soon after, the dorm door was knocked on. Jiang Yi unlocked it with his key, head hanging low, looking gloomy.

He came in with Xu Yi, closing the door behind them.

Xu Yi was a graduate student in economics and management, looking refined and scholarly, wearing gold-rimmed glasses, pale-skinned, with that bookish “gentlemanly but scoundrel” air.

Liu He greeted them with a smile: “What’s up?”

Xu Yi got straight to the point: “How much did you lend him? I’ll repay you.”

    It was five hundred.

Just as Liu He was about to say so, Jiang Yi, standing behind him, suddenly lifted his head and started desperately making signals at him.

So the “five hundred” that was at Liu He’s lips came out as: “Seven hundred.”

Xu Yi nodded, pulled out his phone, and transferred the money.

    Liu He received the transfer.

“Thanks for the trouble. I’ll treat you to a meal sometime.” Xu Yi said. “I have some family matters with Xiao Yi to take care of, so we’ll be leaving.”

Jiang Yi gave Liu He a pitiful glance before following Xu Yi out.

Liu He sat there confused, silently mourning for Jiang Yi.

Jiang Yi didn’t message him again that night. Fearing Xu Yi had his phone, Liu He didn’t ask why he had needed to lie about the 700.

It wasn’t until the next day at noon that Jiang Yi finally sent a message.

    【Jiang Yi: I actually just woke up!】

【Jiang Yi: Lao Xu is inhuman.】

【Jiang Yi: You’re the best—you knew how to play along.】

    【Jiang Yi: [link][link][link]】

【Jiang Yi: Help me buy these and ship them to the dorm. I’ll come pick them up.】

Liu He clicked the links, then silently closed them and typed: 【Why don’t you buy them yourself?】

【Jiang Yi: He unlinked my bank card! Bound it as a dependent card instead!】

【Jiang Yi: These are for making him less angry. If I buy them myself with his card, won’t it all be exposed?】

【Jiang Yi: Bro, help me out here.】

It was just buying some clothes, so Liu He added the three sets into his cart and placed the order.

The total was 140, leaving 60 yuan.

He transferred the 60 yuan to Jiang Yi.

    Jiang Yi didn’t accept it.

【Jiang Yi: Keep the rest as interest from before.】

    【Jiang Yi: You’re a lifesaver!】

    【fon: Treat me to a meal.】

    【Jiang Yi: No problem!】

【Jiang Yi: Can I invite your boyfriend to eat too?】

【Jiang Yi: I swear it’s not because I want to fangirl over him up close.】

    【fon: He’s about to join the crew, I’ll ask.】

【fon: Don’t get your hopes up too much.】

Just as Liu He sent that reply, his phone pinged several times in a row—the special ringtone he had set for Yun Jingqiu.

He exited Jiang Yi’s chat and opened Yun Jingqiu’s.

【187 Boyfriend: Lace, maid outfit, cat ears—three outfits for just over a hundred. At that price, can the quality really be any good?】
