    Chapter 6

Using Manager Kim’s story, Seojin organized his thoughts to pin down the point he had transmigrated.

When does the incident happen in the original?

How the secondary top and main bottom first met was not important, so the exact date was fuzzy. But he clearly remembered the event that tangled them in earnest.

It happened at a part-time fill-in job Shin Seyeong took after a senior or friend introduced him.

That was when pre-heat symptoms hit the main bottom. Panicked, he looked for a suppressor. For some reason it was not in his bag.

He had no choice. He called a taxi driven by a beta and hid in the bathroom. Yoon Haegang found him there, was pulled in by a dominant omega’s pheromones, and their bad fate began.

That’s where the difference between the main top and the secondary top shows.

Then the secretary who had come looking for Haegang stopped it from going further. That was when Choi Munhyeok appeared. Like a main top, he read the situation in an instant, condemned Haegang’s shameless behavior, put Seyeong in the taxi that arrived just then, handed over his card, and told him to call if there was a problem.

    How gentlemanly.

Right. That means the president already knew Shin Seyeong’s face by then.

And from the circumstances, he had already finished that mountain of research. Those details never appeared in the novel.

Of course. Yoon Haegang was not the main character.

And hidden side stories for a secondary character were what noona hated most.

She was firm that a secondary top should not be charming enough to threaten the main top. So information about Haegang had been tightly limited.

“Wow… I didn’t think there’d be hidden content like this underneath.”

    “Hm? What was that, Seojin-ssi?”

    “Ah! Nothing.”

When Manager Kim’s gaze landed on him, Seojin’s shoulders went stiff. He hurriedly looked at the monitor and clicked the mouse for no reason, to look busy.

“Come on, no need to pretend.”

    “…Yes?”

Had he figured out what Seojin was thinking? Seojin looked at him, tense. A meaningful smile sat on Manager Kim’s mouth.

“I watch webtoons too. Dramas and movies sometimes. We’re not that busy anyway, so it’s fine. Don’t worry about it.”

    “Ah… yes.”

A needless worry. Seojin put on a clumsy smile and went back to the screen, picking up his thoughts.

Then for now I can take it that there’s no big point of contact with Shin Seyeong.

That could be pretty positive. A secretary’s role was to actively help Haegang from his side, and also to get in the way.

Especially, every time Haegang tried to interfere with the main couple, the secretary gave decisive help.

The two of them had to end up together for the story to finish safely. That was how the secretary calculated he could complete his duty and then have Haegang for himself.

The problem was forgetting Yoon Haegang was not just a secondary top. He was a yandere top.

The price for ignoring that came back clearly. Haegang did not simply fire the secretary. He made sure the man could not set foot in Korea again.

Lucky just to leave with all four limbs intact?

Not a chance. Using his own dominant trait, he completely wrecked a pheromone system that had never properly settled. So of course the secretary could not live intact.

On top of that came the threat that if they ever saw each other’s faces anywhere, he would not let it go. The secretary left the country shaking.

No one knew what happened to him after that. It had never been an important concern for the author or the readers.

They cared more about how Haegang ran wild and tightened the main couple’s bond.

Haegang’s ending was still better than the secretary’s. Noona did not give the secondary yandere much story, but she liked the character himself so much that she later had him reform and start dating a kind-hearted omega.

“Then what, in the end only the secretary gets dumped like a forgotten duck egg.”

“Hm? Is the webtoon good? Tell me too. I’ll watch what you’re watching.”

“Ah, no. I’m just watching shorts. Shorts.”

This man must be bored, the way he keeps paying attention over here.

Seojin waved him off, signaling him to mind his own business, and sank back into thought. As a secretary, there was nothing to gain here.

Helping the main couple did not earn any reward from them. Staying loyal to Haegang only left him fleeing overseas.

I should just do the work halfway, watch the mood, and resign. After that I’ll move to a safer company and live sweetly with Euni.

Seojin closed the document window on the screen.

Let’s just do nothing. Yes. That seems like the smartest thing.

Once he reached that conclusion, the tightness in his chest eased a little. He leaned back in the chair and let out a long breath. Nothing had even happened yet. There was no need to get scared ahead of time.

It was not that he would do absolutely nothing. The best plan was to avoid them the moment there was even a hint of getting involved.

“The president probably won’t come in today either. Seojin-ssi, let’s wrap up and go.”

    “Is that alright?”

Glad as he was, Seojin checked the time first. This was still a company. They usually left at six.

    It was only four-thirty now.

“Yeah. Is there anything else to do?”

    “No.”

    “Then let’s go.”

“What if a request comes in?”

    “Then we don’t take it.”

Is that really okay? Can this office even keep running without going under? Manager Kim caught that incredulous look again and smiled in circles.

“I’ll forward the calls to me, so don’t worry.”

    “Ah…”

Then say that first. Like president, like manager. The two of them were oddly alike in the weirdest places.

Seojin glanced at the still-empty president’s seat and checked the time again.

Around now he should be in a golf meeting with the managing director of Hanguk Construction.

That was also the company where the main top, Choi Munhyeok, worked. From the start, the main bottom, the main top, and even the secondary yandere top were bound to get tangled.

That’s how these things always are.

And because of the managing director he was meeting today, Haegang would take a hard hit from Choi Munhyeok near the end. When Seojin learned there was an appointment, he had considered saying something.

No. Pretend you don’t know. Pretend you don’t know.

He had done well not to speak. From now on he had to treat all of it as none of his business and stay a step back.

    “Shall we go?”

    “Yes!”

Seojin packed at once. While checking he had not left anything, his fingers flew over the keypad. He was telling the daycare he could pick Euni up early today.

[Euni’s teacher: Father~~~~ Euni is so happy Appa’s coming early >< See you soon! 4:37 p.m.]

A welcome reply came back soon. Imagining the child’s happy face made Seojin’s heart lift.

Today we should eat something tasty outside and spend time at the playground.

In truth he had not had much time with Euni. He had gone to work right after transmigrating and spent his energy figuring out what to do, so he felt sorry he had not looked after her.

This was a precious bond his noona had prepared with him in mind. Being this careless, he had no face to show.

Of course, this was not the kind of compensation he had wanted.

    “Good is good.”

    “Hm?”

“I’m glad we get to leave early.”

“Aha! You were sending a message earlier. Who to? A lover?”

Manager Kim sidled closer, face sly.

Come to think of it, did I mention I have a child at the interview?

Probably not. A good idea flashed through Seojin’s mind.

The perfect chance to cut off any misunderstanding that he had feelings for Yoon Haegang.

“A lover? I was contacting the daycare.”

    “Daycare?”

“Yes. I have to pick up my kid.”

“Huh! Seojin-ssi, you have a kid?”

Why so shocked. At this age it would not be strange to be married with one child. Seojin nodded to say as much and opened the door.

He was about to step out when a huge wall blocked the way. He looked up.

Yoon Haegang, wearing a polo shirt as if it had been made for him, stood there with one eyebrow cocked.
