Divorce Contract C139
by berryChapter 139
Go Igyeol collapsed to the ground, refusing to get into the taxi with its door left open.
Go Minjun, his gaze burning like fire, could no longer restrain the rage boiling up inside him. He kicked himâhard.
When Go Igyeol fell helplessly, sprawled out on the ground, Minjun grabbed him by the collar, dragging him roughly and forcing him into the taxi.
The driver, sensing the violent tension in the air, froze with a troubled face. It was clear that he didnât want to be involved with passengers like these. He got out of the driverâs seat, clutching his phone, feet shifting nervously on the pavement.
âLet go of meâŠ!â
The more Go Igyeol struggled, the more fists came flying. He was completely exposed to the blows, but he still refused to let go of the car doorframe, fighting desperately to avoid being shoved inside.
Before long, the guards who had rushed up blocked Minjunâs way. Minjun, in turn, clutched Go Igyeol even tighter, as though ready to use him as a shield should they come closer.
He realized that talking quietly with Go Igyeol was no longer possible.
âDamn it⊠everythingâs ruined,â Minjun spat through clenched teeth. âAll this, just for money. Fucking money.â
Unable to contain his frustration, he kicked the back of Go Igyeolâs knee, knocking him down again, then grabbed the back of his neck and yanked him upright like a rag doll.
Blood streamed down Go Igyeolâs face; his brow and nose had split open where Minjunâs fists had landed.
The crowd that had gathered gasped and screamed at the sight.
âHah, haah⊠I knew this would happen,â Minjun said between heavy breaths, dragging Go Igyeol close by the collar. âI knew it wouldnât end well. My sister kept saying everything would work out, but I didnât believe it. Hyung⊠Igyeol-hyung.â
He gave a hollow laugh, gripping the trembling manâs neck.
âLet me just be honest with you. We came here because we need money.â
âUgh⊠stop. I donât have money. Neither Father⊠nor you⊠why are you doing this to me?â
âHa! What a joke,â Minjun barked, his tone bitter and mocking. âYou think I came to ask you for money? You donât have anyâbut Seo Dohyeon does, right? So ask him. Call him. Hurry up. Donât make me wait. Iâd rather die than live like this. Look at Noona. Look at me. You know what Momâs like now? But youââ His voice rose, cracking with emotion. âYouâre the only one living well. In that big house. All alone!â
âMinjunâŠâ
âYou want to hear something funny?â Minjunâs voice trembled with laughter. âWe actually came here to take that baby of yours. It seemed like the fastest way. Didnât expect thereâd be a babysitter, though. Figures. You think theyâd let you raise the kid yourself in that fancy house? Fuck. Shouldâve thought that one through.â
He wiped the blood off Go Igyeolâs face with his hand, then rubbed it cruelly across his cheek.
Heeju, watching her brotherâs face now smeared with blood, swallowed hard, frozen in horror.
Minjun tightened his hold whenever the guards even moved, choking Go Igyeol until his heels lifted off the ground.
âStopâhnghâdonâtâŠâ
âThen give me the money! You fucking bastard! Why wonât you give it! Why!â
Rage distorted Minjunâs features. He released one arm from around Go Igyeolâs neck and drove his fist into his ribs again and again.
Thud. Thud.
The dull sound of flesh against flesh echoed as Go Igyeol convulsed and choked on his breath.
âHah, hah⊠I didnât want to do this! You hear me? I didnât want to!â
Go Igyeol, gasping, moved his weak arm.
The car carrying Seo Ihyeon still hadnât left.
Through his blood-blurred vision, he whispered, âHospital⊠hospitalâŠâ over and over.
Minjun sneered. âEven now, youâre worrying about your kid? Worry about yourself! Do you even know what you look like right now?â
âThe hospital⊠we have to go⊠the baby⊠heâs sickâŠâ
âOh, heâs sick?â Minjun hissed through his teeth. âThen fine. The moment that car moves, you and Iâweâll jump in front of it. Youâll be my airbag. I might surviveâbut you wonât. Got it? Hey, you bastards,â he shouted at the guards. âIf you want him dead, go aheadâsend that car off! Go on! I dare you! Whatâs wrong? You canât, can you? Youâre scared somethingâll happen to him and youâll all get fucked, right? Then call Seo Dohyeon! Tell him to bring the money! Right now!â
People were gathering, whispering, frightened. The scene had become chaos.
And thenâMinjun froze. A black car was speeding toward them.
He laughed, breathless. âWell, look at that. No need to call him after all. The man with the moneyâs here. Guess you wonât die today, Hyung. Lucky you, huh?â
He patted Go Igyeolâs cheek, smearing blood on his fingers.
Then he laughed again, empty and wild.
âGo Igyeol,â came a calm voice.
Seo Dohyeon stepped out of the car.
His movement was quick, but his expressionâcomposed, steadyâwas unwavering. His eyes locked on Go Igyeol, bloodied and trembling, and a violent tremor ran through his gaze.
âHello there, Hyung. Or should I call you Brother-in-law? What do you prefer?â Minjun smirked, tauntingly.
âLet him go,â Seo Dohyeon said quietly.
âNo, no,â Minjun chuckled. âCanât do that. If I let him go, what do we have left to talk about?â
He covered Go Igyeolâs face with his palm, pressing against his bleeding brow. âHeâs hurt, huh? My poor hyung looks like heâs in pain.â
âMinjun.â
âOh, finally! You said my name.â His grin widened, feverish. âI hear sirens. Guess the police are coming. Weâre screwed now, huh? Cameras, tooâbet the videos are everywhere already.â
He tightened his hold again. Go Igyeol gagged, his feet scraping against the asphalt.
Seo Dohyeon flinched forward, but Yoon Jaeseon held him back.
âForget me,â Minjun went on, voice cracking. âJust help my sister and my mom live like people, okay?â
âHaâŠâ
âThey think heâs hurt bad, but itâs just his eyebrow, see? I hit him earlier. Not hard. Guess heâs got weak skinâit tore real easy.â
Seo Dohyeon ran a hand over his brow, sweat beading, and nodded. He only wanted them to stop touching him.
âIâll take care of it,â he said quietly.
âReally? Great. But how can I trust you? You could lieâsay youâll help, then change your mind once I let go. My lifeâs already ruined. If the debtâs still here after this, thatâs just unfair.â
Words were useless.
Seo Dohyeon stepped closer, peeling Yoon Jaeseonâs hand off his sleeve. He told him to bring Go Heeju forward.
âYou shouldâve let him go when I asked nicely.â
âWhat?â
âYou think youâll really run into traffic with him? You think Iâd let that happen? You think Iâd let anyone hurt Go Igyeol?â
âYouâwhat the fuck are you saying, you psycho?! You think I wonât do it? You think I canât?â
Seo Dohyeon lifted a hand to halt the guards approaching with Heeju. His voice dropped to a near whisper, low enough for only the three of them to hear.
âThen let me make a threat, too,â he murmured. âIf you and Go Igyeol throw yourselves into the roadâyour sister will never set foot on Korean soil again. Iâll make sure of it. Maybe she thinks sheâll be saved one day by you, or by your father. I wonât let her have that hope. Sheâll go somewhere⊠much worse. A place where she wonât even be treated like a person. Do you think I canât make that happen?â
âYouâ! You fuckingâ!â
Seo Dohyeonâs expression didnât change. His eyes glinted, calm, cold.
âYour sister will get worse every day,â he said. âHer situation, her life. Surrounded by people who take pleasure in cruelty. Some of them wonât even be human. And when she breaks, when sheâs beyond repair, sheâll be sent somewhere where pain becomes entertainment. Iâll sell her body, piece by piece, to pay your fatherâs debt. Tell me, how long do you think sheâll last? How long before she stops being herself?â
Heejuâs face drained of color.
âIf she tries to die,â Seo Dohyeon added coldly, âshe wonât be able to. They cut out tongues firstânew merchandise rule.â
âTouch her and Iâll kill you, you bastard!â Minjun screamed, completely losing control.
The words hit like a slap. His hand loosened.
Then, with a roar, Minjun shoved Go Igyeol aside and charged at Seo Dohyeon.
âYou son of a bitch! Iâll kill you! Iâll kill you all!â
Blood streaked his hands. He reached into his pocket and pulled out something small and metallic.
A clickâand a blade snapped out with a sharp flash.
Go Igyeol, collapsed nearby, looked up in horror. His eyes widened, blood drying in streaks on his cheeks.
The glinting blade swung upwardâstraight toward Seo Dohyeon.
