    Chapter 150

He looked with pity at Seo Dohyeon’s disheveled clothes and at the limp Go Igyeol, who could only exhale ragged, shallow breaths, then searched for something to hang the IV on. When Seo Dohyeon brought over a standing coat rack of suitable height, the doctor merely gave a slight nod and expertly hung the IV bag.

“We can’t use suppressants. As you know, his hormones are unstable right now, so we can’t guarantee there won’t be adverse reactions.”

    “Then what can we use?”

“I’ll prescribe a sedative. But until he’s able to sleep comfortably, you’ll need to continue helping him. It’s best if you stay by his side until the heat cycle subsides. His sexual desire won’t be suppressed.”

Seo Dohyeon recalled the heat that had erupted in Go Igyeol after childbirth. The situation was similar now. The only difference was that their relationship had somewhat recovered.

    “Understood.”

    “Please hold his arm.”

To insert the needle, SEO Dohyeon soothed Go Igyeol and held his arm. Igyeol burrowed anxiously into his embrace. Seo Dohyeon brushed his lips across the damp forehead and pressed kisses across his face. When the thin needle pierced his delicate skin, tears welled in Go Igyeol’s eyes.

    “Hnnh
 hhic
 i-it hurts
”

Seo Dohyeon licked the tears that streamed down his lashes and signaled to Dr. Kwon. The doctor quickly swept his supplies into his bag and hurried out of the bedroom. Slowly, Seo Dohyeon removed the clothes tangled around Go Igyeol’s body, letting them fall one by one to the floor. It was uncanny how Igyeol unerringly found the pheromone-laced garments. He knew he shouldn’t expect anything from Igyeol’s actions. Looking into those upturned eyes, Seo Dohyeon pressed his lips firmly against the damp eyelids.

    “
Haa
”

Completely overheated, Go Igyeol twisted restlessly before pressing his straining lower half flush against Seo Dohyeon’s body. In that sluggish grinding of his hips, shame evaporated and only instinct remained. Glancing up at the IV line trailing along Igyeol’s thin arm, Seo Dohyeon wondered how long he could remain conscious. His hand slipped into the damp underwear. Even the faintest teasing touch made Igyeol’s body shiver with pleasure. The slick, trembling member overflowed with fluid, and just a few strokes had him climaxing at once. The sticky release coated Seo Dohyeon’s palm, only for him to spread it again over the hardened length and continue pumping. Igyeol’s lids narrowed, a soft moan tumbling from his dry lips. Thinner fluid seeped again over Seo Dohyeon’s palm. Igyeol’s body quivered with the leftover pleasure. As if comforting a body that responded so obediently, Seo Dohyeon lifted his chin and kissed him. Seeing his eyes begin to flutter shut, he deepened the kiss.

Go Igyeol’s heat settled sooner than the last time. Dr. Kwon said it was likely because Igyeol was a recessive omega and his current health was poor. He administered nutrients and told Seo Dohyeon to remove the needle once the IV finished. Watching the flushed-red complexion fade from Igyeol’s face, Seo Dohyeon began interrogating him.

“You only gave him a sedative. Why does he look so pale?”

“To me it seems his complexion was always quite fair.”

    “He looks bloodless.”

“My memory says he’s always been that pale.”

Dr. Kwon stuffed his instruments into his bag without care and stood.

    “I’ll be going now.”

Seo Dohyeon did not bother to see him off. He simply stared at his retreating figure. Dr. Kwon, feeling the gaze burning into the back of his head, hurried down the stairs, nearly hopping down them in haste.

He froze the moment he stepped into the living room and saw Kwon Seunggyu holding a baby.

“Ah, hello. Should we have our Hyun say hello too?”

Walking near the window, Kwon Seunggyu held the baby’s tiny hand and gently waved it, smiling. The infant looked slightly displeased, but even that was unbearably adorable. Dr. Kwon fixated on Seo Ihyeon’s face, committing every detail to memory. The child was breathtakingly beautiful—enough to steal the breath.

    “Is Mr. Igyeol alright?”

    “
P-pardon? Ah, yes. He’s f-fine.”

    “That’s good.”

He barely heard Kwon Seunggyu’s murmured reply. Enchanted, Dr. Kwon stared at the baby, only snapping back to himself when he heard footsteps upstairs. Startled, he fled out of the living room.

When he spotted Seo Dohyeon, Seunggyu bowed with a smile, still carrying the baby who babbled excitedly and stretched his little arms toward Seo Dohyeon. He wiggled as though begging to be held.

Seo Dohyeon immediately approached and lifted the reaching child. Seo Ihyeon squealed and giggled, delighted by the height, staring at their reflections in the glass before glancing around as if searching for Go Igyeol.

“He keeps looking for Mr. Igyeol. But at least he’s smiling. If you don’t mind, could you watch him for a bit? I want to tidy up the room.”

    “Alright.”

He answered curtly, but as soon as he held the baby, the child began squirming and fussing as if desperate to reach Igyeol. Whining, stretching, trying to wriggle free. Seo Dohyeon soothed him gently, explaining Igyeol’s condition.

“Daddy’s sick right now. That’s why he couldn’t come see you since yesterday. You missed him so much, so we came to check on him. But he can’t hold you today.”

    “Bwaa! Bu! Hngh!”

“What’s no is no. He hasn’t gone anywhere. He’s here resting, okay? We’re just checking. Not waking him. Shhh, be good.”

Seo Ihyeon’s face scrunched, bracing for tears. Before he could wail, Seo Dohyeon quickly left the room and closed the door. Halfway down the stairs, the child burst out crying. Kwon Seunggyu rushed out, took the baby, and comforted him, patting his bottom and softly singing the lullaby that Go Igyeol always sang. But even as he looked up with teary eyes, his little lips quivered downward—and then he screamed louder than ever.

There was no helping it. Even with every trick he’d learned raising the baby, Seunggyu couldn’t calm him.

    “This never happens. Why
hey, sweetie, why? What’s bothering you so much?”

Just as Seunggyu was about to take him to the nursery, Seo Dohyeon moved first. He strapped on the baby carrier with practiced ease and lifted the sobbing child. Every motion was smooth and natural.

    “M-Mr. Seo?”

“I’ll take him out for a bit. We can’t wake Mr. Go. The nutrients are still infusing. If Hyun cries like this, he won’t stay lying down.”

“Ah, right. Or should I take him? We won’t go far—just the villa garden. It’d be better if you stay here when Mr. Igyeol wakes
”

Looking at the tear-rimmed eyes and trembling lips pressed to his chest, Seo Dohyeon couldn’t hand the baby back. How could a child look so much like Go Igyeol? Even brushing a damp lash made his chest throb. Understanding, Seunggyu continued,

“I know Hyun crying worries you, but I think it’s best if you stay with Mr. Igyeol.”

    “
Then I’ll leave him to you.”

    “Don’t worry.”

Seo Dohyeon removed the carrier and returned the sobbing baby to Seunggyu. The moment he was separated, Ihyeon wailed miserably again. Seunggyu hurried to strap him in and grab his coat.

“There should be security outside. Stick close to them.”

    “I will.”

Even with every risk removed, Seo Dohyeon could not relax. With the fading cries behind him, he returned upstairs. He inhaled the faint traces of Igyeol’s pheromone as he opened the door. Soft light scattered across his pale face. He already looked less drained than before.

The pheromone had weakened too. Seo Dohyeon drew close to his nape and breathed in. Once he woke, the heat cycle would be fully past. Relief softened his expression. He clasped the delicate hand, its fingers seeming thinner after the long sleep, and intertwined their fingers.

    “Mr. Go Igyeol.”

Even calling his name would not wake him. Seo Dohyeon stared at him, lost in thought. A kiss was not consent to anything further. He had realized yesterday—Go Igyeol still feared his touch. He could accept a kiss, barely, but recoiled from anything beyond. Those brutal memories of being violated lingered too vividly. Even while overcome by pheromones, he had begged to be left alone. Terrified. Pleading for mercy.

    “
I’m sorry.”

Running his hand through hair damp then dried with sweat, he caught the faint scent of skin and flowers. In his heat, Igyeol used to bloom like a flower under his touch—yet now that sight was gone. The knowledge that he had driven him to this point was unbearable.
